Ideal Ikea

Ideal Ikea by Marguerite was an installation work made in 2007. It now exists as documentary photographs. Comprising of various materials such as, a chair, paint, fabric, 6 photographs printed on cotton, basket, iron, lamp, clothing, coat hangers, hat, cup, 3 action figurines, 4 tables and 3 photographs.

The work is a confronting representation of domesticity and the allusion of genetalia. The audience are shocked as they look closely at the images on the furniture, disgusing themselves as images of male and female body parts. Inviting the audience to sit down on perhaps a close up of a subjects cras imperfections that would normally be hidden away by clothing.

Each piece of furniture and clothing was painted white or bleached white. The process of this was stripping the objects of it’s everyday function.
